Challenge
Putting Duolingo into the hands of 16-22 year olds.
Insight
16 to 22 years old are growing more and more in touch with media and content that are culturally diverse. Concern for global issues is becoming a part of their media consumption. Most see the benefits of learning another language as another outlet for getting the most out of the world. They don’t watch much traditional TV but still consume a vast amount of content on other platforms, 83% getting their news from social media.
Solution
Within the Duolingo App, students can join a language league to practice languages together and connect with others. They’ll play in the League of Language to help their league move up the leadership board. Scores are based on each league's cumulative score at the end of each marking period. Branded flash cards will be sent out to schools to be given to students to play with their classmates and family members (virtually or in-person). The cards will encourage them to download the app and compete with their classmates and students worldwide.
